Leroy Butler, DO, is a board certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon in foot and ankle surgery with more than 14 years’ experience. Dr. Butler’s foot and ankle practice covers a wide array, including arthroscopic and reconstructive surgeries, as well as general orthopedics, such as sports injuries and fracture care. He specializes in Total Ankle Replacement (TAR), minimally invasive bunion, arthritis and deformity correction, PARS Achilles repair, lateral ankle instability, foot and ankle cartilage injuries, trauma, 4-D DynaBunion and Lapiplasty bunion correction, , and foot/ankle surgeries and other procedures. In addition, he has vast experience in Orthopedic biologics regenerative medicine procedures of the foot and ankle, knee including platelet rich plasma (PRP) and bone marrow aspirate concentrate (BMAC).
Dr. Butler received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Davidson College, where he played Division I men’s tennis. He worked as an associate research scientist for GlaxoSmithKline, before pursuing his passion for putting medical advancements into practice for patients by graduating from Lincoln Memorial University – DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Dr. Butler completed a one-year surgical internship in orthopedic surgery with Wellmont Health Systems at Holston Valley Medical Center, then completed his residency training with the Wellmont Orthopedic Residency Program (East Tennessee State University Orthopedic Program). While at Wellmont, he contributed to a variety of research such as pediatric Lisfranc trauma, complications of retained hardware, and case reports. Following this, Dr. Butler completed a foot and ankle fellowship at Desert Orthopaedic Center, where he trained under world-renowned Dr. Troy Watson. During his fellowship, Dr. Butler served as an adjunct consultant for NFL and UNLV athletes, Cirque du Soleil acrobats, and multiple Las Vegas performers.
Dr. Butler enjoys exploring Dallas-Fort Worth locally and traveling globally with his wife, son and daughter.. In his free time, he loves playing tennis, working out, attending sporting events, and spending time with friends and family.
Dr. Butler also contributes time doing Orthopedic industry teaching and lectures on surgery techniques, implants, devices, and produces locally and nationally.
